What is CAS?
It is nothing but Consolidated Accounts Statement. Now SEBI is planning for single statement for all our investments at one place using our PAN number.
This may be started probably from March 2015. SEBI has directed all mutual fund registrars and all fund houses to co-ordinate with the stock market depositories namely NSDL and CDSL to come up with a consolidated account statement (CAS) for each investor’s shares and mutual fund investments. This will avoid getting various statements from various AMCs (Asset Management companies). All investors may be given option for this from Jan2015 onwards. This follows the recent recommendations in Budget 2015 that requires every individual financial assets are to be captured in a single statement. Slowly this will cover bonds, fixed deposits etc. so that it will be easy for finance ministry and tax authorities to know the real position of investments of individuals.
