Mobile number portability (MNP)

TRAI announced that indians can have the facility of mobile number portability (MNP) from Oct 31 of 2010. There will not be any delay beyond this period. So mobile users can retain their pet numbers and remember it consistantly. They can move from one mobile operator to another free of charge. The mobile companies are warned by TRAI that if they do not provide this facility by the above date, no new connections can be given by them and their business would suffer.

So all companies will follow the deadline and mobile users will get benefit. If they are unsatisfied with the service, they can switch to other mobile operators. So customer service will increase and there will be competition just like DTH where Tata Sky jumped for price reduction etc. Launch of 3 G next month will be added item of competition as 3G is the fastest one as compared to 2 G .
