New Indian rupee symbol

Mangalore-based Foradian Technologies Pvt Ltd has created a font called Rupee_Foradian. It can be downloaded from the company’s blogsite — http://blog.foradian.com — and used for free.

YouTube video — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSfhzuU7Crw — shows how easy it is to use the symbol.
Very soon, we can see Indian rupee symbol is included in our computer. Experts say what is required is simple internal coding to assign an additional function to any one of the existing keys that currently holds a single function. It would be interesting for us to see which single-function key (Insert, Page Up, Page Down, Delete or some function key) will bear the rupee symbol. The IT industry is awaiting standards from BIS on where and how the new function has to be allocated so that software codes can be modified to give shape to Indian rupee symbol in hardware computers.
